2nd Amendment to the Constitution of The United States of America

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

"I ask sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people except for a few politicians."

Go Vote folks...

Our forefathers fought and died for our right to self govern and choose our own leaders instead of being at the feet of a King chosen solely on the basis of heredity.  As much as I hate all of the campaign adds (and believe me being in Ohio we have had it worse than most in this regard) at least I am seeing people getting involved in the political process and having open discussions (at times) about the issues and candidates.  Early voting here in the Buckeye state approached 1.6 million voters in the 30 days prior to today, including yours truly.  I normally am an "election day voter", but wanted to see what all of the fuss is about.  Personally, I think 30 days (in addition to having applications for absentee ballots mailed to every voter in the state!) is overkill.  I realize with our population and the voter turnouts we have seen over the past decade that maybe more than a single day is needed to allow everyone the time to vote.  A week maybe?  Sounds about right to me and will cost 25% of what we must be spending now.  I have already seen people on the morning new bitching about the lines at the polls this morning.  Sorry if standing in line is the price you have to pay to exercise a right that others have died protecting, especially after you've had an entire month to vote already.

I am not going to tell you who to vote for, use your conscious.  And besides, who the hell listens to me anyway?  But please, do listen to this.  There is a very real threat to another of your rights covered under the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution, you know what it is.  And our incumbent candidate has stated that he will try and reintroduce another "assault weapons ban" that did nothing to seriously curb gun violence (Columbine anyone?  Committed with a Hi-Point 995 carbine specifically manufactured to meet the restrictions of the ban) and only succeeded in limiting our God given right to self preservation.  This ban will be crafted by special interest groups that he panders to based on emotion over logic, hype over fact and fear over liberty.  We cannot let that happen, regardless of the outcome of the election.

We changed our clocks in this country this past weekend, time to change something else today....
